You can read her blog at How To Conceive A Baby.
This is the story of her attempts at getting pregnant – she tells us about what seems to work for her and her husband, and what doesn’t.
Please tell us something about yourself
I am 38 years old.
I had a few boyfriends just out of high school and then didn’t date until I met my husband 6 years ago. We got married in June of 2007.
When did you start planning and trying for a baby?
My husband is 10 years older than me, so having a baby was first on the list.
However, I met him while I was overseas. Medical care there is not the same as here in the states, and we didn’t think anything of not conceiving right away.
I knew it could take up to a year to conceive. We decided to move to the states in 2008 so we put “trying” on the back burner.
When did you find out that everything was not fine? Did you or your husband undergo any treatment?
Life was hard when we moved back here – we have had job changes and moves but we still tried. We have been in our current house for 3 years, and here is where we finally started fertility testing.
We found out we have male factor, but we had to quit testing due to yet another job change. So I never finished testing me. I have no idea if I have any problems.
My doctor put me on Femara (drug very much like Clomid) for 2 months, and that didn’t help (many side effects to that drug, and now hesitant to use Clomid!)
What are you currently doing to improve your fertility and increases the chances of getting pregnant?
All doctors seem to say the same thing, and IVF is probably our only option.
That is what started me on the quest to find natural remedies for infertility, however I haven’t had a chance to try any of them because hubby and I just started back to work after a 4 month layoff (we both work at the same company)
We were without money, and more importantly, we were without health insurance. Not to mention our fertility doctors are 100 miles away.
